A Voice of Experience

I am proud to have been at the forefront of the podcasting revolution since its inception in the early 2000s and to have witnessed its growth into a key medium for communication among individuals and organisations of all sizes. From Fortune and FTSE 100 companies to small businesses, from non-profits to government agencies, podcasting has become an essential tool for sharing knowledge, stories, and ideas.

For Immediate Release: The Business Communication Podcast

My journey into the podcasting world began in January 2005 with the launch of For Immediate Release (FIR), originally a weekly podcast that I co-founded with Shel Holtz and today a monthly long-form show up to 90 minutes in each episode, with weekly short-form episodes typically 20 minutes or less.

To date, we have created and published more than 1,200 episodes since the start.

FIR stands at the intersection of business, communication, and technology, catering to a niche global audience of professionals in marketing, employee communication, advertising, corporate communication, and beyond. Our goal has always been to provide a platform for in-depth discussions on the trends and tools shaping the future of corporate communication.

FIR is the anchor show that underpins the FIR Podcast Network we founded in 2015, which comprises 16 active independent podcasts under the FIR brand.

FIR Interviews: Strategic Conversations with Communication Leaders

We started the FIR Interviews podcast in our early days, when it became clear there were great opportunities to explore compelling topics with people in a dedicated podcast that gave us all scope to dive deep with our conversations.

In recent years, FIR Interviews has taken a back seat, but in August 2024, we re-booted this podcast with the start of regular monthly interviews.

The Small Data Forum Podcast: Unpacking the Big Impact of Small Data

Podcasting: The Small Data Forum Podcast.

In the summer of 2016, I co-founded ‘The Small Data Forum Podcast’ with Thomas Stoeckle and Sam Knowles in London. This monthly business podcast delved into the significant impact that data has on business, politics, public life, and society.

Our discussions analysed the subtleties and nuances of data and how they inform decision-making processes in the modern business and political landscapes. After 7½ years and 102 episodes, we retired the show in February 2024. The website is no longer online; you can find remnants on The Wayback Machine.
