UK podcasting pioneers Neil Dixon and Adrian Pegg have launched LinkedMedia to “spur the growth of podcast listeners by opening up accessible channels for independent podcasters to reach a wider audience.”
From a post on Adrian’s blog:
[… LinkedMedia is] designed to facilitate a path by which podcasters en masse may provide content to the mobile networks (and potentially other distribution and syndication channels), without the networks needing to negotiate individually with thousands of podcasters – a single task that could spell the end of the syndication opportunity before it even gets off the ground.
Podcasters from across the globe are invited to express an interest in our podcaster partner programme, which is not only free to them, but designed to create a market which generates and distributes revenue from the networks back to podcasters, and we will keep them informed as things develop.
Podcast producers can get introduced to a channel with new and potentially huge audiences while content providers get access to new and potentially huge content.
Could this be what’s needed in the UK to really kick-start podcasting?
