If you love classic Saab cars as I do, you’ll love this story on GM’s FastLane Blog of a Saab 900 Aero turbo owner in the US who has just completed one million miles in his car since he bought it new in 1989.
Owner Peter Gilbert’s commitment to Saab over the years has earned him a brand new Saab 9-5 Aero.
But there’s more:
[…] Saab Automobile USA is offering a free, new Saab to any U.S. customer who covers the distance of 1 million miles or more in a Saab that he or she originally purchased new.
What a terrific customer loyalty reward. A great and probably relatively inexpensive way to cement a genuine relationship with customers who are already strongly motivated to your brand. And great PR.
In the early 90s in the UK, I had a Saab 900 Aero turbo, just like the one you see here (mine was an H-reg, not F).
It was one of the most fun-to-drive cars I have ever experienced. Not only that, it was totally reliable. Always started first time, never broke down and you could transport just about anything in it.
Today that 900 model series is known as the ‘classic 900.’ It’s a good moniker. A great car.
I don’t have that 900 any longer; if I had, I bet I would have reach a million miles by now. But I still have tremendous brand loyalty.
I wish I still had the car… And lived in the US…
