Like quite a few people, I’ve installed Internet Explorer 7 beta 2 that Microsoft released earlier this week as part of broadening out their beta testing programme of the new browser version to as wide an audience as possible. I like it and, compared to the earlier beta, it seems pretty stable. One big plus […]

    An obituary for mass media

The announcement yesterday by the BBC on their plans to re-invent themselves for the ‘age of participatory media’ makes everything that any mainstream media organization has done to date with blogs, podcasting and other social media just look like tinkering. I’m still extremely pleased with my Nokia N70 cameraphone. It does everything I want in a mobile phone including take superb photos for easy moblogging with Lifeblog. And it works wherever I am, in whichever country in Europe and North America. In fact, I probably use the phone more for photography and sharing pics than […]

    Spam blitz has Akismet struggling

Is spam-catcher Akismet struggling today, or is this just a peculiar one-off? As I write this at 2.00pm, the list of spam comments and trackbacks blocked so far today by Akismet shows 231 items, the majority from an IP address starting 64.62.228.X (the last digit varies). Definitely a blitz. What’s a bit alarming is that […]
